Meet Preeti Singh
Preeti Singh has a Masters and Bachelors in Fine Arts (BFA) from Punjab University in India. Winner of the University gold medal in graduate program, she taught Painting and Art History at University level for eight years before she got married and moved to the United States. She has exhibited in India and her works are featured in several private collections in France, England, India and the United States. Her work is defined by simplification of form, pulsating textural treatment and vibrant color. Preeti’s recent paintings depict images from her immediate surroundings and past experiences that merge together to create dreamlike narratives. They reflect the influences of east and west, and are an assimilation of her life in the United States and India.
She believes that knowledge of artistic theories and evolutions of past and present broaden the range and scope of a student’s receptivity. Awareness about the challenges in history of art provides a solid foundation for resolving the representational issues of contemporary visual arts. Preeti considers teaching to be a continuous exchange and sharing of ideas. She encourages her students to experiment with different materials, techniques and processes for developing an individual form of expression. She taught at Westerhoff and Metuchen Artworks gallery and gives private lessons. She also served on the board of Rotunda Gallery in Metuchen, NJ. |
