Virtual Acting/Musical Theatre Workshop
“We Need A Little Christmas” Ages 10 & up, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:30-4:30 OR TBD based on students’ schedules, August 4 – 27 Instructor: Janette Goleme, Westerhoff School voice faculty Write a monologue and perform it along with a musical theatre song that is upbeat and fun! The theme of the program, “We need a little Christmas...NOW” is based on the song from the musical Mame, sung by Mame and her nephew when she loses her fortune in the stock market crash of 1929. It is not Christmas, but they need cheering up so they go through all the motions of Christmas to try to cheer themselves up. Much like what we all need now! With the help of the instructor, students will choose a musical theatre solo to work on and sing, and will write a monologue to go with it. A final virtual performance of monologues and solos will take place either live on Zoom, or recorded and uploaded to Youtube. Classes will meet on Zoom two times per week, for four weeks, on Tuesdays and Thursdays during August. During class, students will receive instruction and coaching as a group on writing their monologues and singing and performing their songs. In addition, students will be able to arrange for three individual sessions with the instructor to work on their songs and monologues. All participants must have taken some vocal lessons and/or be comfortable with performing a solo. Cost: $150 ($75 for students already registered for vocal lessons at the Westerhoff School) |
