John Morrison grew up in Princeton, NJ and began to learn the guitar at 13. John attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA where he earned his undergraduate degree in Jazz Guitar Performance. At Duquesne he had the opportunity to study with a number of great artists and professors including trumpeter Sean Jones, legendary guitarist Joe Negri, and big band arranger Mike Tomaro. John earned his MM at Rutgers Mason Gross School of the Arts in New Brunswick, NJ where he studied with Vic Juris, and also studied under Ralph Bowen, Conrad Herwig, Fred Hersch, Victor Lewis, Kenny Davis. John now lives in NYC and works full-time performing and teaching guitar.
