Westerhoff's small class sizes on a Zoom-based platform foster optimal attention for our art students. All fall courses will begin remotely - students will need a computer or tablet with a webcam and microphone to participate.

Thursdays with Preeti Singh and F
ridays with Jane Westrick

For Ages 6 to 8
4:15 - 5:15 P.M.

We will introduce our youngest artists to techniques for drawing and self expression. This course will focus on drawing, with the goal of nurturing a love for art making. Students will learn important art terms, and discover contemporary and historical artists.

The following materials are recommended to have at home: pencils, erasers, colored pencils, crayons or pastels, markers, drawing/sketching paper, colored paper, glue stick, and scissors.

Ages 9 to 13
5:30 - 6:30 P.M.

This course will focus on observational drawing and painting from life, with art materials that are easy to use at home. Alongside our observational work, we will explore alternative ways of inventing and constructing compositions with an
emphasis on personal expression. Students will look at and discuss works by contemporary artists and from art history.

The following materials are recommended to have at home: pencils, erasers, colored pencils or pastels, watercolors, acrylic or tempera paint, drawing/sketching paper, and a heavier paper such as mixed-media or watercolor paper for working with wet media. In a few cases, students may be encouraged to purchase additional materials.

Ages 14 to 18
6:45 to 7:45 P.M.

The 14-18 class will continue skills and concepts explored in the 9-13
class, with additional emphasis on portfolio development and independent
projects.

The following materials are recommended to have at home: pencils, erasers, vine charcoal, oil or soft pastels, watercolors, acrylic or tempera paint,
drawing/sketching paper, and a heavier paper such as mixed-media or
watercolor paper for working with wet media. Students may also wish to
acquire additional materials that pertain to individual projects.
