METUCHEN – Celebrating twenty years in Metuchen, the Westerhoff School has collaborated with the Metuchen Arts Council for an anniversary concert of compositions featuring the piano with brass, woodwinds, strings and voice. The 'Piano & Friends' concert will take place on November 3, 2018 at 7pm at the First Presbyterian Church on Woodbridge Avenue in Metuchen. Professional musicians from among the Westerhoff School faculty and the community will perform works from Bach, Ravel, Liszt and many other composers.
Judy Yin-Chi Lee, member of the Metuchen Arts Council, said, “We are including unique and unfamiliar combinations of different instrument families. For example, concertgoers will hear a quartet of piano, voice, trumpet and cello. There is also an exciting piece involving four hands on one piano. It will be fun for music lovers of all ages to experience these interactive combinations.” Ms. Lee, a professional musician who has played with orchestras all over the world, will perform a piece on the French horn.
David Iskowitz, Westerhoff’s Director and an accomplished pianist, also looks forward to performing at the concert. “The hour-long program offers selections of baroque, classical, romantic and contemporary pieces. It’s an honor to showcase and celebrate the classical music talent at our school and in our community, which hopefully will inspire people of all ages.”
Audience members will have an opportunity to interact with the musicians at a post-concert reception. 'Piano & Friends' is made possible by the generous support of Gary and Helga Westerhoff, the faculty of the Westerhoff School, and the Metuchen Arts Council.
