SUMMER ART CAMPS 2023
DRAWING NATURE & ART JOURNALING |
ART IN ACTION |
Monday, July 17 - Friday, July 21
Ages 8 - 14 Time: 9:30am - 12:40pm Fee: $350 + $10 registration fee ($325 if registering for both weeks) Let your child appreciate and be inspired by the beauty in everyday life. This art camp will help students to develop the skills of observational and imaginative drawing. Each day will begin with 30 minutes of sketching the world around us – flowers, leaves, trees, birds, clouds and different patterns and shapes in nature. Students will learn to create a balanced composition and will develop an understanding of color mixing and theory along with the properties of different materials and the techniques of using them accurately (watercolors, acrylics, pen and ink, tempera, print making and 3D media). Throughout the session, we will be using references from art history and the masters for inspiration - Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Henri Matisse, Gustav Klimt, Georgia O’ Keefe, Ansel Adams, Andy Warhol and Henry Moore. In addition, students will also be creating their own unique art journals to document creative ideas by using the elements of drawing, painting, writing and collage! |
Monday, July 24 – Friday, July 28
Ages 8-14 Time: 9:30am - 12:40pm Fee: $350 + $10 registration fee ($325 if registering for both weeks) Let your budding artists learn the fundamentals of drawing the human figure! This workshop focuses on developing the skill of drawing people in action (walking, running, jumping, dancing, playing sports or as a gymnast or acrobat) by using references and imagination. The students will acquire a step-by-step rendering technique - from simplified form to a detailed drawing with accurate proportions. Foreshortening and perspective will be introduced. Finally, they will create a figurative composition that will capture the whimsy and amusement of a classic circus scene! Students will have the opportunity to work in 3D media and create sculptures using foil, pipe cleaners, wires, fabric along with a wide variety of art media - watercolor, pen & ink, oil and dry pastels and print making! For inspiration, we will look to the Masters—Albrecht Durer, Leonardo da Vinci, Alexander Calder, David Hockney and Keith Haring to name a few. Each participant will also be keeping a notebook of daily drawings and creating their own art journal. |
