Session 2: Fun with Figures
Monday, July 25 – Friday, July 29
For ages 8 – 14 (Maximum number of participants: 6)
Time:  9:30 AM - 12:30 PM
COST: $325/student (Payable Online by Check or Credit Card)

Let your budding artists learn the fundamentals of drawing the human figure!

Each day will focus on sketching people from references and imagination. The students will acquire a step-by-step rendering technique - from simplified form to a detailed drawing with accurate proportions. Foreshortening and perspective will be introduced. Finally, they will create a figurative composition using their own sketches.

Throughout the session we will be using historical references that elaborate how the representation of the human figure evolved over the centuries from abstract to realistic (from prehistoric cave paintings to the works of Albrecht Durer, Leonardo da Vinci, Alexander Calder, and Keith Haring)

Students will also have the opportunity to work in three dimensions with foil, pipe cleaners and fabric along with a wide variety of art media – including watercolor, pen & ink, oil and dry pastels, and print making!

In addition to keeping a notebook of their daily drawings, the students will make individual murals for them to decorate their homes!

SOLD OUT! Session 1: Art in Nature
Monday, July 18 – Friday, July 22
For ages 8-14 (Maximum number of participants: 6)
Time:  9:30 AM - 12:30 PM
COST: $325/student (Payable Online by Check or Credit Card)

Let your child discover the beauty of nature and celebrate and express the journey through their art-making!

This art camp will help students to develop the skills of observational and imaginative drawing. Each day will focus on sketching and drawing nature – insects, butterflies, flowers, leaves, dandelions, trees, and clouds in the sky! Students will study symmetrical and asymmetrical shapes and patterns and how to use them to create balance, interest, and visual stability in design.

Each participant will be using a wide variety of techniques and art media (including watercolor, pen & ink, oil and dry pastels, print making and mixed media) to create artworks full of life, color, and texture.

Throughout the session, we will be turning to the masters for inspiration – Gustav Klimt, Georgia O’ Keefe, Henri Matisse, Vincent van Gogh , Claude Monet, Ansel Adams, and Andy Warhol, to name a few.

In addition to keeping a daily record of drawings, the students will have the opportunity to create a handmade one-of-a-kind artist book. They will also be encouraged to write small Haiku poems describing their artistic creations!
